South Downs Way Hike Amberley to Worthing via Chanctonbury and Cissbury Rings

South Downs Way Amberley to Worthing via Chanctonbury/Cissbury Ring

Why not join us on this lovely South Downs Way walk?

As a hiking business, we are exempt from the rule of 6, By signing up to our event you are agreeing to our COVID 19 guidelines as outlined here:

We will start our hike at pretty Amberley, close to the South Downs Way. We’ll take a fairly steep ascent initially to get up onto the Downs, and we will join the scenic South Downs Way National Trail for the majority of our walk. This is perhaps one of the prettiest South Downs walks, with beautiful views the whole way.

The walk follows a ridge with stunning views either side on a clear day. We will pass by historic Chanctonbury Ring which was a hill fort in ancient times.

We will then continue our walk through the glorious West Sussex countryside, before moving away from the South Downs Way, and heading south towards the Cissbury Ring. This is a former Neolithic flint mine, and was an Iron Age hill fort.

We will then drop down into the seaside town of Worthing. Here we can grab a drink and/or some food before heading back on the train to London.

This is a 14.5 mile walk with a long steep ascent at the start, and half way through, and the walk is undulating but mostly gentle. However, we will have a lot of ground to cover so please come prepared to move along at a decent pace.
