The Kings Trail – Hiking Swedish Lapland

In the far North of Sweden lies one of Europe’s most wild and remote Treks, ‘Kungsleden’ or Kings Trail, situated 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle deep in Swedish Lapland.

Starting at the Abisko Mountain Station this unspoiled diverse and dramatic trek in this arctic wilderness takes us through a land of flower carpeted birch forest, snow-capped mountain fells, high rocky passes, lakes, and spectacular glacial valleys where the indigenous Sami people tend their herds of reindeer.

We traverse through ever-changing landscapes, to the commanding viewpoint, the Tjäktja Pass (1100m) and the impressive waterfalls of the Tj’ktajakka Val before hiking to the Kebnekaise Mountain Station in Laddjuvaggi Val. We have the option to climb a nearby mountain with a spectacular panorama over the surrounding countryside, before trekking out to Nikkaloukta and our bus to Kiruna.
