The Autumn Woods of Effingham Junction Circular 15km / 9 mile Sunday Hike

GRADE: Beginner, Intermediate 15 kilometres / 9 miles on woodland and countryside paths and mainly flat, with only 1 hill. Total ascent 200m. About 3.5 – 4 hours of hiking plus lunch.

This mostly flat circular hike is an indulgence for the lovers of trees and woods, as a large part of the route takes us through various wooded areas of Effingham, a large semi-rural village in the Borough of Guildford, Surrey, 4 miles south of the M25. The remaining parts consist of farmland, and a small section of the walk on our way back to Effingham Junction station takes us through the village of Effingham.

MEETING TIME: 11:25 outside Effingham Junction station.

COST: £10.00 organiser fee paid on RSVP

TRAINS:
There is a train from London Waterloo at 10:32 which arrives at Effingham Junction at 11:25, journey time 53 min. You can also join this train at Vauxhall at 10:36, or at Clapham Junction at 10:41.

TICKETS: You’ll need to buy a Day Return ticket to Effingham Junction, which costs £13.10, or £7.55 with Network Railcard.

Due to Covid-19, we currently cannot travel together and organise group tickets. If you choose to do so on your own, please remember to follow all current government safety and social distancing guidelines.

WALK STARTS: 11:25 from outside Effingham Junction station

LUNCH: We will stop for a picnic lunch around 12:30- 13:00. Please bring packed lunch and plenty of water to keep hydrated, as we won’t be stopping to buy them.

WALK ENDS: Approximately 16:00 outside Effingham Junction station, but it always depends on the pace of the group we have on the particular day. It may be a bit earlier or a bit later.

RETURN TRAINS: On Sundays, return trains from Effingham Junction to London Waterloo leave at 5 and 34 minutes past the hour.
