Colne Valley walk, Verulamium and St Albans Cathedral

From Garston, we cross the meadows at Meriden to Lord Knutsford’s Munden Manor and join the Hertfordshire way before meeting the Colne Valley Walk and River Ver continuing onto Moor Mill Inn.

The walk then enters the picturesque woodlands and ponds of Frogmore park and follows the Ver Valley to Sopwell. From here we enter the suburbs of St Albans passing under Cotton Mill Bridge to enter Verulamium Park.

Walking through the park visiting the Roman wall which once surrounded the town then onto the Cathederal dedicated to Britain’s first saint and the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain.

From here you are welcome to join us in the Fighting Cocks one of Britain’s oldest pubs for a drink and some food or return to the station and the train home.

MEETING TIME: 09:30 London Euston railway station outside the ticket office We will be taking the 09:24 train changing at Watford Junction then onto Garston arriving 10:36. Walk finishes Approx 16:30

COST: £8 organiser fee on RSVP

Train fare is not included £9.00 group saver, pay on the day, please arrive prompt and bring the correct cash if you would like to be included in group tickets.

GRADE: Beginner, 16km 10m. 4.5 hrs hiking time, good paths through woodland and meadows. Walk finishes Approx 16:30
