Ditching Common, the South Downs Way and Wolstonbury Hill

We will start our hike at Burgess Hill, winding our way out of the town to pretty Ditching Common.

We’ll then head through the countryside village of Ditchling and beyond, climbing up to Ditching Beacon, from where we will join the South Downs Way. On a clear day we will enjoy fabulous views along this stretch of the walk.

Finally, we will complete our walk by taking in Wolstonbury Hill, and passing by Butchers Wood, before getting on the train from Hassocks back to London.

For those that want to there is a chance to get drinks/food in Hassocks before boarding the return train home.

MEETING:
10:15 Burgess Hill Station outside the ticket office.

If travelling from London, the train leaves from Victoria at 09:15 at the latest.

Walk Starts: 10:15 Burgess Hill Station

Walk Ends: 17:30 approximately Hassocks Station

Cost: organiser fee £10 payable on RSVP.

GRADE: Moderate 21km 13m 6 hrs hiking 426m ascent, with a couple of steep climbs. This trail is on footpaths and tracks through countryside and along the South Downs Way. We will have a lot of ground to cover so please come prepared to move along at a decent pace. Walk finishes approx 17:30.
