This beautiful walk takes us from the historic town of Guildford and initially follows the river Wey path and ascends to a viewpoint and the ruins of an abbey. We pick up the Pilgrim’s way, where the path climbs to the picturesque St Martha on the hill church which commands some of the best views over the Surrey Hills and as far as the South Downs.

Continuing to our lunch spot at Newlands corner a popular beauty spot, where the crime writer Agatha Christie staged her disappearance 1926. The trail takes then drops into the valley and takes us through Blackheath Woodlands to Chilworth, before rejoining the River Wey back to Guildford

When we return to Guildford you will have an option of joining us for a swim in the river Wey if the weather is nice.

MEETING POINT: Due to Covid, we can not travel together and organise group tickets at this time (however, you are welcome to self-organise if there is a lot of you leaving from the same place!). There are also a number of discounted tickets available if you book in advance via trainline.com. Meet me outside of Guildford Station (there is a big empty plaza where we can gather). There is a 9:30 am train from Waterloo that will get you to Guildford station for 10:03.

GRADE: Beginner, 20 km/ 12m good paths with a couple of hills.
