GRADE: Beginner, 10 kilometres / 6miles on countryside paths and mainly flat, with only 2 hills. Total ascent 170m. About 3hours of hiking plus lunch.

This delightful and mostly flat linear walk starts outside Leatherhead station and finishes outside Dorking station. Both stations are on the same train line. The route follows the Mole Gap Trail, which is a 10-kilometre official walking route alongside the River Mole, linking the Surrey towns of Dorking and Leatherhead.

The trail runs through Norbury Park, the village of Westhumble and across Denbies Wine Estate, England’s largest vineyard. At this time of the year the vine produces beautiful display of autumn colours, which are a feast for the eye. Other highlights include some of the best ancient yew and box woodlands in Europe, and a series of silver metal arrows which will guide us along the way.

It is an easy, relaxed Sunday afternoon walk.
