Secret Chilterns, and the rolling hills of the Chess Valley

This pretty linear walk through the Chiltern Hills area of outstanding natural beauty takes us from the Historic town of Amersham along the meandering Chess River and Chess Valley.

From Amersham Station we pass through Lower Bois to join the River Chess, the trail leads us past the well preserved, Weir House Mill to Latimer Park Farm which was once the site of a Roman Villa.

We hike through Frogmore Meadows nature reserve and see the Sarratt Bottom watercress beds the last remaining beds of this major Chilterns industry. The walk finishes in Rickmansworth where you can join us for a drink and some food or take the train home.

MEETING TIME: 10:40 Amersham station.

Trains from London London Marylebone Station 09:57 train arriving in Amersham 10.32, Journey time 35 mins or Metropolitan Line. Amersham station is in zone 9 of the London travel card zone so you can use your Oyster card or Debit card.

COST: £10 pay on RSVP

GRADE: Beginner/intermediate 19km 12m this trail is on footpaths and tracks through rolling open countryside.

WALK STARTS: 10:40, Amersham station.

LUNCH: Pack lunch on route

ESTIMATED FINISH: 16:30, Rickmansworth.
