Burnham Beeches and the woodland country parks of Buckinghamshire

GRADE: Intermediate/hard 25km/16mile 6.5hrs hiking 200m Ascent, the walk mainly flat on good woodland paths.

This Beautiful hike takes us through Buckinghamshire’s best-kept secrets. Crossing heathland, meadows, woodlands and parks with tree-lined avenues, pretty lakes, stunning displays of Rhododendron (at Temple Gardens an explosion of colour from April). Woodland trails lead through pines Pines, veteran Oak, Chestnut trees and some best examples of ancient woodland in Britain, with great opportunities for wildlife spotting and views to Windsor Castle and beyond.

Leaving Langley station, we hike through Langley Country Park, Partially Landscape by Capability Brown and steeped in history. The heathland trail takes leads past the serpentine lake and into Temple gardens.

Heading into Black Park to join the Shakespears way the tracks take us through Stoke and Farnham commons, both SSI’s We enter the ancient woodland of Burnham Beeches Nature Reserve and continue along the Beeches Way to finish in Cookham where you are welcome to join us for a drink or take the train home.

MEETING TIME: 09:00 Paddington Station outside the Pread st entrance, Outside the Pread Street entrance opposite London St

COST: £10 pay on RSVP.

TRAINS: We will be taking the 09:43 train from London Paddington to Langley, arriving at 10:10 Journey time 25 mins. Return train from Cookham.

Train Fare is not included, buy on the day £9.40pp group saver, please bring the correct cash and arrive prompt to be included in group tickets.

WALK STARTS: 10:20, Langley station.

ESTIMATED FINISH: 18:00 – 18:30, at Cookham Station.
