Since there is now a replacement bus adding an hour to each end of the journey to anywhere South Downs-way, I’m changing this hike to be a Milford to Haslemere hike. It’s a fantastic hike with a nice mix of woodland, heathland and really lovely views!

After leaving Milford Station, we will make our way across several sandy heathlands, open commons and forested tracks. We will end up at the Devil’s Punchbowl, a deep depression with steep sides filled with some stunning old-growth forest. There’s some grisly stories of highwaymen and a Church connected with Thor and a good dose of nature that we all need. The hike ends at Haslemere station and is a linear walk.

GRADE: 20km 12.5 miles a moderate walk with 360m ascent. Paths may be muddy!

MEETING:
10:05 Milford Station

Trains: London Waterloo at 9:15 will get you there in good time! Buy a day return to Haslemere as it’s just a couple stops down the line from Milford. If you choose to drive, it’s an easy train ride back to your car in Milford.

Cost: organiser fee £10 payable on RSVP.
